 Fibre rienforced TRANSFORMER distribution Boxes

Materials:

Base : Thermosetting Isophtalic Polyester Resin  – Fire Retardent.
Rienforcement : 450 GSM Chopped Strand Glass Mat – 2 layers
Colarants: U.V Stabilsed high Gloss pigments.

 Process:

The mould is applied with release agent and PVA prepared for resin application Polyester resin applied with the formulated combination of 450 GSM Chopped strand Glass fibre mat to give multi directional reinforcement. The outer faces of the box mould undergo an application of an “in-mold” tough satin textured coloured gel coat. On basic curing of the gelcoat the reinforced mat is placed inside the box and the formulated resin mix is applied along all the faces of the box mould. Finally, the two faces are simultaneously fused with all the edges of the box under pressure until completely cured. Molding pressure and resin gel time is calculated and adjusted to allow for penetration of resin into the cellular structure of the reinforcement.

Salient features of FRP TRANSFORMER boxes

    1. LIGHT WEIGHT

FRP boxes can deliver more strength per unit weight than most unreinforced plastics and metals. A lightweight part can help save on working and transportation costs. Less expensive to ship

    2. HIGH STRENGTH

FRP boxes are formulated in a wide range of tensile, flexural, compression, and impact strengths.

    3. CORROSION RESISTANCE

FRP boxes eliminates painting and costly maintenance costs. FRP can also survive in many environments in which other materials cannot survive, including stainless steel. Equal to stainless steel in corrosion and chemical resistance, and far better than carbon steel. The are UV stable and will not rot when exposed to wet and corrosive environment. It is essentially inert to most corrosive environments.

    4. DIMENSIONAL STABILITY

FRP boxes can be maintained within a good tolerance range of 0.2 – 0.5mm and hence allows for accessories to be fit together with little or no machining. Much easier to punch, drill or saw

    5. Thermal / electrical insulation.

FRP boxes have excellent thermal insulation.(1000 times less heat conductor than aluminium. It does not have any spark risks due to conatact with other materials. Also, FRP boxes have excellent electrical Insulation. (~ 6 KV/mm).

    6. Long life

FRP boxes exhibit excellent lifetime characteristics, even in extremely harsh environments.

Fire Retardent Resin is a low flammability unsaturated polyester resin based on Isophthalic acid, formulated with antimony compounds in synergestic effect with chlorine compounds. Glass reinforced plastic moldings made from this resin have excellent properties like water resistance, heat resistance, chemical resistance along with fire – retardant characteristics.
